What a Beautiful Day

What a beautiful day we've had here in Southern Ohio, of course their were a few Thunderstorm warnings up but nothing happened in our neck of the woods.  I can handle 68 degrees in February. What a crazy super mild Winter we've had.  But the warmer temperatures have gotten me in the mood for Spring cleaning and airing out the house to get rid of stale air and germs.
I ran out of a certain color yarn for my quilt'ghan and can't wait to pick more up on Friday so I can get it finished.  While waiting to go on a yarn run I started on my step-nieces Daisy afghan, I've gotten all of the 108 little circles finished.  I've worked a little bit on the Round Ripple in shades of brown and I purchased an awesome pattern last night called American Beauty by Donna Kay Lacey.  I hadn't noticed that it was an Experienced pattern until it was purchased and printed out.  It called for a stitch that I've never done let alone heard of (Bullion Stitch).  After trying all morning and ripping apart and trying again I gave up for awhile and walked away.  I picked it up again after dinner and homework were out of the way and i'm moving along nicely on it now.  Guess I just needed some quiet time.  I'm determined to do this square, I saw it a while ago and fell in love with it, and I've learned a new stitch in the process (yea me!!)  That's the one thing I absolutely love about Crochet no matter how long you've done it there is always something new to learn and I love the Experienced patterns because they are a challenge and sometime you need that.

That pretty much sums up what I've been up to the past week.
Until next time:  Happy Crocheting Everyone!!

The End Is On The Horizon

I have more finished on the quilt'ghan and the finish line is near.  I should have this finished this weekend or early next week sometime.  I've got my fingers crossed that I bought enough of the multi color yarn because if not i'll have to travel 30 miles out of my way to get another roll.

I'm so excited about this project and can't wait to get it finished.  Then i'll be moving on to finish my RR in shades of brown and starting another Daisy afghan.

A Little Break

I took a little break from the quilt'ghan last night.  I've been wanting to try to make an Irish Rose so I found a pattern and I sat down and worked on it last night.  It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.   This is how it turned out.
I didn't finish out the square because I like the way it looks as is.   I think i'm going to put it in a picture frame and hang it somewhere in the house and I want to make a couple more for my girls to hang in their bedrooms.

Rainy Day Funnies

It's a gloomy ol rainy day here in Ohio.  I thought I would share some crochet funnies that i've found.
I think the lady guarding her yarn is my all time favorite...lol.
This is a good day for crochet, so gloomy and blah out.  I'm continuing to move right along on my sisters quilt'ghan thank goodness I figured out what the problem was.

Oh What a Headache

So i'm working on my sisters quilt'ghan and things are going along just fine until I get to the white border that brings out the colors of the center.  Let me tell you I gave myself a headache yesterday I put it together and tore it apart 5 times.  I don't know why it's not going together right.  I finally gave up for the day, I had to step away from the afghan....lol.  I honestly felt like giving up and giving it to my sister as is and saying "enjoy your new doily".  She'd kill me...lol.  I plan on working on it again today for a bit but when aggrivation sets it I'll put it to the side for the day and work on my round ripple.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Valentines Day filled with lots of love, although everyday should be filled with lots of love.  I fixed a nice dinner and spent the evening with my husband and 4 beautiful kids.  I couldn't ask for anything more.  We ended the evening with some homemade brownies and a glass of milk.  I also tuned in to a blog radio show on the paranormal, my brothers paranormal team Southern Ohio Paranormal Investigations were being interviewed last night.  They did an awesome job and at some points had me laughing.  If you ever get a chance check them out on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Southern-Ohio-Paranormal-Investigations-Inc/128578243860835  My family, crochet, and the paranormal are some of my favorite things in life.  We all have our habits and these are mine...lol

Busy! Busy! Busy!

I have the center of my sisters quiltghan finished.  Now I have tons of white diamonds to do for the area around the center then more color to add.  I'm posting one final picture then I will post of picture when it's finished.
I've been trying to work on it a little bit during the day and my sister -in- laws Round Ripple during the evening.  Then I still have ends to weave on the Daisy afghan.  Yes still!!  It's my least favorite part of making afghans with so many motifs.  But when I started the quiltghan I have been forcing myself to weave end when I finish each color.  I'm so glad I have because now I can just throw it in the was and get it out the door...lol.

Quiltghan for my Sister

I've started a quiltghan for my sister.  She has wanted an afghan from me for a very long time but I could never find a pattern that I thought fit.  It just seems like when you make something you automatically know who it's for.  I'm doing it a little different than the pattern calls for, I really didn't like the way the pattern had you join the motifs so I used my own way.  I want something that will last and it just didn't seem like the way the pattern was made really held the afghan together very well.
I'm going to include a couple pictures of the beginning of the quiltghan and when it's finished i'll post another picture.

Outside Our Window

This morning Matthew our 1 year old was standing at the living room window giggling like crazy.  Curious as to what he was giggling over I get up and look out and this is what I see.
About 2 weeks ago my mom gave us an extra bird feeder that she had and some bird feed.  It took the birds awhile to figure out it was there but now that they have Matthew loves standing at the living room window watching them every morning.

On a crochet note, while waiting to get the kids all up for school this morning I sat down with a roll of the cotton yarn that I bought last Friday.  Determined to come up with a crochet dishcloth.  I love using the crochet dishcloths so much better than the store bought cloths.  I haven't yet found a pattern that I like so I was just messing around doing what I thought would look okay.  Here is the end result.
Not the best attempt but not really the worst either since while working on it I came up with other ideas.  I know with enough website hopping I'll eventually find a pattern that I like but until then I guess I'll just do my own thing.  These are so quick and easy to make that I think I've found a new morning routine that will allow me to get in some crochet time and stock pile some dish clothes.
This is also the first time ever that I've worked with cotton yarn and wow I love it.  It's so soft, I can only imagine what an afghan would feel like made from cotton.  It would be a keeper that's for sure...lol.

Busy! Busy! Busy!

Good lord has it been busy around here.  Between ball games and kids being sick I haven't gotten anything accomplished the past week.  I've been trying to work on tucking ends for my Daisy afghan that needs to be sent out, plus get my round ripple in shades of brown finished so that I can move on to the quiltghan that I want to make for my sister.  I went on a yarn run Friday and the yarn has been calling my name, but I refuse to start another project when I have two that are needing finished.  I am so hoping this is a more productive week.  I've also wanted to start on a few hats and scarves for charity, there just aren't enough hours in the day.  On top of all of that the kids have found a way to destroy the house over the weekend so it's hard to get in the mood to do anything when your looking at clutter.  I'll have to take the day to straighten the house then the rest of the week is mine...lol.
